How to Play

The major scale follows the strict interval formula: W-W-H-W-W-W-H (Whole and Half steps).

You will hear two scales starting on the same root. One is a true major scale; the other has one or two notes subtly altered. Use ▶ Scale 1 and ▶ Scale 2 to listen, then select which is the real Major Scale.

Note: You must answer a minimum of 5 questions for your score to be uploaded to your progress logs.

Listen to Scale 1 and Scale 2 using the play buttons. You can replay each scale as many times as you like before answering.

The piano diagrams below the answer buttons highlight each scale's notes — after answering, the incorrect scale is greyed out.

Keyboard shortcuts: 1 / ← = Scale 1 is Major, 2 / → = Scale 2 is Major, Space/Enter = Next.
